Comments: Just as one does not have to be a Christian Scientist to appreciate the quality of reporting at the Christian Science Monitor, one does not have to be a socialist to appreciate the many merits of this anti-establishment Socialist website. I must divulge, however, that I find myself largely agreeing with the serious perspective the site provides. I visit the site daily to read rich contextual analyses of important political, economic, and cultural events around the world, past and present. Exposition at the site is as thoughtful, thorough, and intelligent as it is opinionated. As a regular reader, I consider myself better informed than people who rely on the New York Times, the Washington Post, or broadcast media for their news. The quality and depth of its reporting exceeds the best of the most popular alternative news sites as well. The site regularly identifies important stories and details before they are noticed, and often bowdlerized, elsewhere. On the occasion that I noticed a factual error and brought it to the editors' notice it was quickly corrected. I have seldom encountered similar responsiveness elsewhere.

Comments: The World Socialist Web Site is a really valuable tool for everybody. I find its articles and style to be unmatched compared with the likes of CNN, BBC, and Fox news. The perpsective is also something to be noted, seeking to organize the masses of working people into an entity truly capable of significant change. The only downside to the WSWS is that not very many people know of it! If I won the lottery I would donate a very large portion of my earnings to the WSWS. Over the years, apart from changing the interface to something more user-friendly, they've also increased the use of video journalism and added several other features as well. Apart from that, it also has a Facebook page where you can comment, debate, ask questions, etc. I've yet to find a source of news like this one! (though one must remember not to corner themselves into just getting their news from a single source)

Another interesting thing is that while the WSWS defends the international working class and is staunchly opposed to the capitalist profit system, the journal upholds in published articles the democratic heritage of great figures like Thomas Jefferson, James Madison, and Abraham Lincoln. I have read the World Socialist Web Site for two years and, as a worker and a student, have found it to be an incomparably useful educational and political resource. The writing is clear, thoroughgoing, and international, encouraging readers to approach cultural, social-political, and scientific issues carefully and methodically. This approach is helpful and progressive because it raises consciousness and develops perspective. If one approaches the WSWS dismissively, such an attitude will compel the individual to make impatient observations and arrive at inaccurate conclusions. Questions and answers about the falling rate of profit (a historical tendency of political economy), the possible socialist society, the left-nationalist regime in Venezuela, and the betrayals of Stalinism, are in the Correspondence, History, and News & Analysis sections of the website. The WSWS stresses the unity of the international working class in its common struggle against war and the global profit system. Fundamentally, the journal's analysis is based on the principle that working people must become conscious of their revolutionary role through political education. Socialist revolution then occurs only when the mechanisms of the capitalist system breakdown naturally, and when the politically prepared masses precipitate its structural collapse and seize power. The serious reader should approach the WSWS with patience in hand, go through the trouble of seeking out information in its archives like most thinking workers do, revisit theoretical and practical issues regularly, and write to the editors when critical questions arise. The website, moreover, is an indispensable alternative news source. Noteworthy is its coverage of the Iraq war as well as interviews with soldiers and their families.

This news source is one of the best trotskyist news sources on the web. It has news stories that the main stream media will ignore. It also talks about workers struggles from around the world. Strikes that happen in places such as Germany, Australia, Isreal, Sri Lanka, etc. The olny problem is it lacks a theoretical journal.

I am rather excited about this site. It looks ahead of its time with such vigor that it fills the air with a mix of fresh hope and seriousness. Following the newswire in WSWS is like reading the real life events in a narrative. Over a period of time, the articles connect to each other and become one giant episode, just like the life itself. Also they report from the same height as the rulers of this planet. How is this possible in a world where the rulers are playing their cards so tightly hidden? Once you follow it for a while, it becomes clear. They have the history on their side as well as a matching theory, the theory of permanent revolution. That is how they separate the facts from fiction and create robustness in the narrative. That must be also why it does not quite matter who writes an article and they all end up at the same high standard. This general conception is not without a specific color. They have a political party, Socialist Equality Party, to implement it. They seem to be the only ones amongst the left with a political agenda that separates the classical Marxist-Leninist view from the reality of today. Where Marx and Lenin argued that, correctly in their times, a world socialist revolution is international in content but national in form, SEP argues now that it is also international in form, given the enormous technical developments and the rise of the global economy. This is a groundbreaking anticipation in itself, as it would help stop, after the revolution, the emergence of a monstrous nationalist bureaucracy like that of Stalinism in the Soviet Union before the party of the revolution dissolves itself. They also take on, not only the trade unionism but also the trade unions by the throat, something that is supposed to be sacred in contemporary left circles, and argue that their corruption is irreversible. This would surely make them the most hated force by the "left". It is something to see in practice how the consciousness of historical truth and sticking to ones principles can illuminate the road ahead and produce intelligent reporting with such consistency. I would recommend studying the content presented in this site to any person who is serious about contemporary politics and more importantly, his/her class interests. You will probably end up in all sorts of political landscapes like I did.

I've been reading the site for some time, and find its coverage of major US and world events to be excellent. The analysis it provides cannot be found in the mainstream media, which is beholden to big business. Well worth a visit.

These people don't actually give reasons to become socialist through debate. They report news in an Anti-American and Anti-capitalist point of view. News Flash folks, Europe is even getting rid of Socialism. This website is good if you're a college professor (a failure at life) and need to put the blame at your failure to become something on America and the capitalist society.
