First of all, this web site differs from other web design showcases around the Internet in several ways - it is not just a showcase but a book-project - the goal is to release a book. The book will be published fall 2006 and is going to contain about 150 of the very best web designs - web designs that all has been submitted to the site and is approved by the community. The book will also contain articles and interviews, with and about some of the web designers, who's work is included. The site submitting part is easy, just go the the submit page and type in the URL to any website - and from here the system takes over. First the site is checked for existence, secondly its source is checked for validity, third the web site is snapshotted and then its added to the »submitted sites« section. Only tableless, valid and non-flash sites is added. In the »submitted sites« section the community can vote and comment on the submitted sites, and when a site reaches 20 votes, it will automatically be moved to the »approved sites« section. More votes and comments gives better chances of being included in the book, but in the very end, all the 150 designs for the book is being picked out manually - still with the vote count and comment count in mind, but this is not what weighs the most. The goals for the book and the web site is to promote web standards and especially web standard minded web designers and developers. The book will be a great tool for every web designer, as an inspirational source, but also for companies looking for a web designer - and this is where the web standard minded web designers really get paid for their work - promotion!
