Search Engine Marketing (SEM) Opportunities for theregister.co.uk

Queries that provide opportunities for this site to advertise through Search Engine Marketing (SEM) to get more traffic. They are popular queries that are relevant to the site, and have low competition in search engine marketing. Learn More Many sites are actively advertising in search engines for the most valuable search queries. This high level of competition tends to result in high advertising costs, which makes it difficult to find attractive advertising opportunities. These opportunities may still exist, however, by looking at the "long tail". The long tail contains search queries with lower Query Popularity, but such queries also tend to have lower QCI. By advertising for many of these queries, sites may still be able to manage an effective search engine marketing campaign. Note that not all queries on the long tail may be very relevant to this site, but this list may contain a number of strong advertising candidates.

At times it seems like the Current Bun of technology sites, with some distinctly tabloidesque stories. The Reg has a tendency to overdo the speculation, and an annoying habit of chucking the occasional advert in amongst its stories. A handful of articles could be considered a little too faithful to the press release. Yet for all that, the Reg is a good site. This is a technology site that takes risks, an editorial team that provides insight into many a story. There is a blend of opinion and humour that you just won't find elsewhere, a fair few scoops and plenty of trivia. Nevertheless, into all this are blended many an essential article for IT professionals. Best of all, The Register is friendly to the consumer. The ordinary guy being stamped on by Big Corporates. Not slavishly mind you, oh no. These guys will cheerfully criticise Linux and praise Microsoft where such treatment is due. What matters is that they understand issues like open source, DRM, Apple Macs, spam. Issues that mainstream sites will ignore, gloss over or misunderstand. For all its faults, this is a great website and frankly, to award it a perfect 5/5 would be missing the point.

I've been reading El Reg for years. Its always been my favourite news site. With a technical bias, it delivers news with an edge of satire. News that sometimes comes with a conscience. A voice of reason in a world gone mad. And then sometimes they just rehash press releases. The satire perhaps isn't as biting as it once was, but then we all mellow with age. Or is it that just get fat.
