This was introduced to me by a friend a few months ago, and it quickly became my favorite web-comic. It's very funny, a little bit out there, and eccentric and quirky, but not afraid to go a little deeper. Mostly, it plays off of the humor of everyday situations and life. I would DEFINITELY start this one at the beginning, as it is a long-running storyline that begins at once. (Some comics I've read have only started a real storyline after a year or so), and there's a lot of little surprises and revelations that are actually a lot of fun to get into. The best part is seeing how mush the creator grew as an artist and how his style changed and evolved. A comic that looks good now, but doesn't rely on the art is to be to valued. Little details are extremely important in this comic; characters might allude to something or someone that won't become clear until many strips later, but is always worthwhile. The posters/coffee mugs/refrigerator hangings/art are all individual silliness and worth paying attention to. There have been video game jokes (very sparingly!) and social discussions, but most of the nerdery is focused on music, most specifically, indie rock. The cast is very much a bunch of hip, twenty-somethings who like to goof off and have fun, while still trying to make their way in the world doing what they love, if they can. No real enemies among them, but there's enough tension, quarrels, even 'backstabbery' to make it all believable. No need for a spoon. The newsposts that artist/author Jeph Jacques puts up with each update are usually on the comic, general merch update, notices about conventions, and little tidbits of thoughts/opinions. Very often entertaining, sometimes just a brief note. I recommend this mostly to silly twenty-somethings who enjoy humor and music, no matter what kind.
