I don't know if the various Indymedia sites were good sources of information in the past, but nearly all of them have devolved into havens of reflexive and unthinking Anti-American bile. Many times I have visited these sites, and always I am confronted by cartoons trying to portray Americans as literal Nazis (swastikas and all), and rants written by schizophrenic conspiracy theorists. It bears a remarkable resemblance to the Weekly World News, in that its news usually has one foot squarely planted in the fictional.

IndyMedia was a great idea years ago, but it has been corrupted beyond belief. First of all, there is plenty of censorship. Secondly, a huge portion of the posts border on anti-semitism, but it's disguised as hatred of zionists. IndyMedia demonizes every aspect of israel and zionism. Lies that demonize 1/3 of the world's jews who fled persecution to buy land and settle in israel and build it up into a nation never cease. IndyMedia also hates America, every aspect of it. They claim to be anti-racist, but they only seem to focus on ALLEGED racism in America and Israel, while INTENTIONALLY IGNORING racism from european countries, arab countries, african countries, etc. This is not a matter of simple differences of opinion. IndyMedia writers can essentially make up any anti-israel and anti-america lie they want, and the editors will happily highlight the article. But don't highlight wrongdoings of other nations, indymedia editors will deny they exist, or move your post to the "hidden" section.
