Search Engine Marketing (SEM) Opportunities for msnbc.com

Queries that provide opportunities for this site to advertise through Search Engine Marketing (SEM) to get more traffic. They are popular queries that are relevant to the site, and have low competition in search engine marketing. Learn More Many sites are actively advertising in search engines for the most valuable search queries. This high level of competition tends to result in high advertising costs, which makes it difficult to find attractive advertising opportunities. These opportunities may still exist, however, by looking at the "long tail". The long tail contains search queries with lower Query Popularity, but such queries also tend to have lower QCI. By advertising for many of these queries, sites may still be able to manage an effective search engine marketing campaign. Note that not all queries on the long tail may be very relevant to this site, but this list may contain a number of strong advertising candidates.

Comments: There's a lot to like about the MSNBC site: it's probably one of the more advanced options with respect to adapting to the potentials of the internet for news gathering and news distribution. (1) It openly and prominently links to other news websites, acknowledging the reality that readers like to see a range of interesting content from a range of sources, and aren't going to be dependent on a single site. (2) It breaks the mould in terms of page formatting and pagination. Article pages are completely free of clutter: there's big text in Georgia fontface on a straightforward background, and the ads aren't the intrusive kind that get in the way of the content. Moreover, MSNBC doesn't do the annoying practice of saying "we'll divide this article into five separate pieces, so that you have to load an entire new page in order to read the whole article and so that we get more ad revenue". Instead, it has a common sense layout which opens up the rest of the article on the same page. (3) It's beautifully designed: high functionality but it doesn't try to flaunt it. Most of the links are to articles, not to finnicky widgets that don't enhance the user experience. (4) And of course, the choice of content is excellent as well.

Facebook User says: 9-11 was an Inside job. America is turning into a facsist dicatatorship police state. We are moving into a one world government. MSNBC IS PROTECTING THE ELITE GROUPS WHO WANT TO KILL US. MSNBC is Helping the criminals get away with murder, and helping enslave the world. They do not expose 911, they attack 911 truthers, the mass media supports 911, b/c they support there motivation which is a one world government. MSNBC are lying facsists. BOYCOTT THE COMPANIES OF THE NEW WORLD ORDER

mr_underhill says: I can't in good conscience rate this site more than 2 stars. Sure, they've got a decent interface and all. They probably pay good money for that. And certainly, there are worse sites. But MSNBC, along with other major news conglomerates such as CNN, FOXnews, etc., have wreaked so much havoc and given American journalism a bad name across the world. It doesn't take a rocket scientist to see that these sites are all slanted. How hard is it to get clean, non-biased, non-sensational journalism in America? And yes, I tend to agree with some of what the reviewer below stated about 9-11 in relation to these major networks. The destruction of the WTC towers was probably one of the largest scale televised demolitions you will ever see. Most people have seen run down flats and old casinos destroyed, but how often do you see some of the tallest buildings in the world be demolished? Perhaps it will take 15-20 years, but I certainly hope that the American people, and people around the world come around to the fact that jet fuel CANNOT get hot enough to melt the 47 steel superbeams in each tower and make them come down nearly an hour after they've been hit. It's a joke, and the intelligence of the American people is being insulted. But folks on all of the major news networks are calling us "conspiracy theorists" when in all actuality, this has gone far beyond a conspiracy theory. How much longer can they hide it? I can smell corruption.

MSNBC has it all, and they do a great job of incorporating video into their site. I love the fact that on many articles you can click a button to get video on the article you're reading about. Also, I find MSNBC truly objective in their reporting. MSNBC is my one-stop hub for all news on the internet!

Although I have enjoyed MSNBC in the past, I am tired of getting breaking news alerts only to go to the website and find absolutely no information regarding the incident. I have e-mailed them regarding this and never even got the courtesy of a response. They put the "cus" in customer service! Needless to say, I'm switching to Fox News immediately.

Late in 2003 MSNBC website was "redesigned" -- the results are DISASTROUS--and much INFERIOR to the former site--loss of functionality, efficiency, personalization etc. One need only take a look at the severe loss of traffic (Alexa statistics) to see the effects. Apparently no one at MSNBC cares that the site is deficient and the redesign inferior to what they had. My guess is they will completely morph it into MSN and shut it down for all practical purposes soon. Personally I changed my homepage from MSNBC to Google News.
