i_am_a_cat says: There have been many complaints about last.fm since they sold out to CBS. However, there are still many good things about it. It is still easy to search for other artists and there is still a wide range of music in the database. As an avid user, I have very few complaints about the website. There is a small fee if you are not in the USA, UK or Germany to use the radio, but there is very few (annoying) ads on the site and you get more features when you subscribe to the site. Overall, Last.fm is still a great site.

Facebook User says: Unlike the Music Genome Project aka Pandora, Last FM doesn't act like an emotionally needy girlfriend who doesn't let you do what you want and always needs more attention than you have time for or want to kick down. Last FM will play for well over an hour before you have to let it know you're still listening, Pandora is like 5 minutes. You can find really obscure artists on there and can fully customize your play lists. Take that Pandora. Give it a whirl and see if you're not just mesmerized.

Facebook User says: Last.fm used to be a great Web site, but as you can see, there are no reviews for years. In 2008 the founders sold out to CBS, the latter corporation then turned Last.fm into a conduit for selling its music leaving many independent artists and the fans who love them out in the cold. Last.fm is a mere shadow of its former self and not much longer for the world.

haha, cheezy title....but anyways, yes, last.fm is a fun site. I use it daily, to keep track of music, new artists, even OLDER artists. largely community oriented.

This site is absolutely wonderful for music lovers, simply because of the way the network is built, and the simplistic and often overlooked way of recommending music. Much better than recommending other artists in a similar genre, Last.fm recommends music by showing you users with similar musical tastes. Using this simple idea, you can "try out" new music that someone who shares your tastes listens to. Also minor, but important in my book--there aren't any ads cluttering the site.
