Comments: 1st they canceled my order but they said they didn't know why, then my book "got lost in the mail", then the seller didn't answer my email, then I write an email saying I'm about to start some trouble if I don't get some answers & all of a sudden "It's on the way, you should be getting it in a few days, I'm shipping it priority", that was a crock, then I get it a week later regular mail, not priority...then they refund my 10 bucks when I didn't even ask for it but hey I'll take it! Just stay away from alibris people!

hamonwry says: I have been a seller for a number of years on alibris.com, and have had a great experience with them. Their staff is friendly and helpful and always effectively solves any problem quickly--usually within 24 hours. I have had similar great results buying from Alibris. Most sellers ship quickly and describe their books accurately. Out of hundreds of orders I have only had one or two with which I needed help from Alibris, and they responded quickly to address and correct the problems I had. I recommend Alibris to everyone I know--buyers and sellers alike!

dougtn says: Alibris sells exclusively via third party sellers but treats them very poorly. Their communication is often condescending and they are slow to work out problems - if they work them out at all. Even though they facilitate FTP processing it is not completely functional - items designated as not available for international shipping end up as listed as available on their site which results in canceled orders for the buyer (Sorry, we're not going to pay $27 to ship an item to Canada when Alibris reimburses us less than $6 for shipping). Their monthly seller fees are based on the size of inventory - $30 per month for 3,000- 4,000 items compared to $39.99 for as many as you can list on Amazon. They also take 15-20% per sale depending on whether it is sold on their site or through one of their partners. For all of this, our sales have run about 5% of what they are on Amazon - with the prices exactly the same. What this means for buyers is less available inventory, higher prices to compensate for higher fees, and higher order cancellation rates.

Yes, there are many other places to search for out-of-print and used books (music and movies too). I've been buying online for years and have not found a more reliable and reasonably priced source. You can sometimes find items listed at a lower price elsewhere but my experience is one of being disappointed time and time again by being ignored, told the item "just sold" or receiving a book not as described. These folks are the pros.

Will, You should check this site out again. Their prices have decreased. Some books are more expensive if they're collectible editions- but contrary to what the Alexa description says Alibris doesn't just sell mystery & out-of-print collectible, they sell books of all genres, from new condition to older ones. I like Alibris because I've found many of the books I've been looking for for years on one easy to use web site.

I have purchased a few books off this site, & I am very happy with my results and prices, but I had one issue where I did not receive one of the two books I ordered and a month and a half went by,...I e-mailed twice since then and called their automated service as well. I did not receive any kind of reply. I even found out the actual company phone number and tried calling there, & once again no result, so now I am taking back my "great" reveiw to my friends and replacing it with a ..."iffy" reveiw. I hope this reveiw helps.

I ordered a video from Alibris about 6 weeks ago and have still not received it, although my credit card was charged. I have emailed the site almost every day, for the last couple of weeks and had nothing but automated responses. I have called several different numbers I found using google searches, left messages and still not a response. I would not recommend using this site at all. Absolutely the worst customer service out there and at this point, a total ripoff!
