Just because you dont get along with a moderator in our forums doesnt give you the right to leave a inflamatory or retributive rating. Chances are you deserved whatever response you recieved from our moderator team. Our mods are the best on the net, and are very knowledgable but they do not suffer fools lightly. If you ask a question in our forums be polite, and understand that the information provided is -free-. With that being said, we have made MANY improvements to both the forums and our articles/tutorials are devshed is considered a premiere resource on the internet for the serious developer.

This web site was started several years ago by a group of programmers in the country of India. The Indian programmers seemed to properly manage the moderators for the individual forums (i.e. forums for PHP, Perl, Html, etc). I loved the DevShed web site back then. In about 2003 the web site was sold to the current ownership (they're located in south Florida). The current management group evidently does not pay much attention to the conduct of the moderators (i.e. the persons entrusted with the management of the individual forums). I'm not going to say which one of the forums but the moderators of at least one of the forums make inflammatory remarks. Users will get flamed if they ask questions there. I asked a question and one of the moderators responded with something like "we're not going to write your program for you" in a very bitter and distasteful reply. At a later point in time I asked another question and one of the moderators made a very unpleasant remark. I complained to the upper moderators and told them what the others had done. They did not act very professional. What they did was they took an image of a troll and replaced the avatar beside my name with the image of the troll. Every person that visited a thread where I had posted saw the image of the troll beside my name. They're not too smart. Something like that could result in the owners of the web site becoming the target of a defamation suit. I regret having to say this because there are several nice persons who participate there. However, I think that the above needed to be said. If the owners did not want uncomplimentary things said they should have paid closer attention to the management.

I always turn to their sites when I have a coding issue. The forums are always helpful and I get responses in a very short amount of time.

Ive only been programming a few years, but I have found devshed.com an awesome resource. I've never written one of these before, but I thought I would just give some props where they are due. First, they have incredible articles on all of thier sites each week. I signed up for the automatic emails that tell me of the new topics on all of thier websites. Second, they have an awesome blog system where you can discuss stuff directly with the author of the articles. I dont know about anyone else, but this is an awesome way to find out just how to do something you dont understand. Lastly, thier forums are awesome. Their moderators are programmers just like the rest of us, and seem to take ownership of thier sections and do thier best to help people. I wish there were more sites like devshed out there. Ive read some good responses and some bad ones, which is why I wanted to post my thoughts.

DevShed is a great resource. I visit their pages often to read up-to-date technology articles, and I've found their design tutorials very useful when it comes to working with HTML, CSS, and other design roadblocks I have encountered along the way. Also, their new TechNews show is a cool addition to their site, with relevant news and a comedic twist. Great site!

The articles take you step by step through creating programs you can use right away for various tasks. They are useful and easier to understand than many I've seen elsewhere.
