Comments: It is of course a very big and diverse resource of the open source software, likely because of being so old. I host multiple my own projects there. But, really it may be time to say: the site is too slow for the user that just navigates between various projects, please do something about this. Surely, this is related to the huge popularity of the site: it is easy to be fast then there are not so many requests. Also, the search system is not very good if you are looking for something less popular, as it sorts much more by ranking that by the relevance of the search. Still, the side without any doubt could be recommended.

Sourceforge is great! It's the home for many , many, many, open source projects. A great place to look for software! Its absolutley an awesome sight if you want to host your own project too. If you host a project on sourceforge you'll get a free CVS repository, a website (without any advertisments) that you can handle PHP among many other things, a mySQL database, and tons more.

I'd like to give them a different star seeing that everyone is giving them a 5 but I can't. They're definitely a 5 star! As a webdeveloper I've used them in conjunction with the innovative marketing information, I've been able to more than double my sites overall performance in terms of traffic and sales. So if you're someone who understands developing and programming but need to refine your marketing know-how then I suggest you also take a look.
