Search Engine Marketing (SEM) Opportunities for arstechnica.com

Queries that provide opportunities for this site to advertise through Search Engine Marketing (SEM) to get more traffic. They are popular queries that are relevant to the site, and have low competition in search engine marketing. Learn More Many sites are actively advertising in search engines for the most valuable search queries. This high level of competition tends to result in high advertising costs, which makes it difficult to find attractive advertising opportunities. These opportunities may still exist, however, by looking at the "long tail". The long tail contains search queries with lower Query Popularity, but such queries also tend to have lower QCI. By advertising for many of these queries, sites may still be able to manage an effective search engine marketing campaign. Note that not all queries on the long tail may be very relevant to this site, but this list may contain a number of strong advertising candidates.

Don't especially like it. Could find all of this from other news sources, and without the annoying layout.

Its a great site. Filled with all sorts of discussions. Its the only site I subscribe to.

The articles read like research papers written by some undergraduate with little personal understanding of the subject trying to impress a group of high schoolers. We can only hope it will die soon.

The stories are always controversial and full of venom. They give me the feeling that their trying to compensate for something by using big words. It's like reading a report from a 12 year old with a thesaurus and an inferiority complex. The forums are beyond disgusting with nothing but trolls and cliques. If you get on the wrong person's bad side, watch out. They will do all they can to discredit your every word. Also, good luck trying to cancel your subscription. I went through months of frustration with my registered email address, and any email address I used, being blocked.

I have read Ars for about 10 months, and it is my favorite technology news site now. It took me a while to get used to the style, for it is a mix of informal writing, more "stiff" reporting, and sometimes politically charged coverage. Even if I don't agree with every take that they have, I come away feeling much better informed and exposed to the central issues that really matter. Teach the controvery! (I kid, I kid). I'm not much of a forum reader, though.

Ars Technica is one of the few technologically literate sites on the Internet. Their writers are known for going deep into topics like intellectual property, technology trends, and computer architecture, but they also editorialize quite a bit (it's good editorial). They used to be known for running awesome articles on occasion, but in the last two years they have become much more active, and I read them multiple times a day now. Their forum is one of the better known forums online, and not everyone is a fan. One of the reviewers here is actually a member who was banned because he trolled with racist and sexist content. Ars Technica fortunately has many, many moderators to keep discussion in line.

Ars is one of the best technology websites online because they are consistent and very insightful. Top notch coverage of intellectual property issues, hardware news, and Microsoft reporting. The style is laid back and informal, which I really like (other people, not so much). You often learn about issues on Ars long before they are reported elsewhere, but their take on the day's news is also typically thoughtful. I'm not a fan of forums in general, but the Ars Technica forum is the best I've been on, rarely have I found an issue that could not be solved there. I really recommend the site.

Ars is a wonderful resource. The true value isn't the front-end - which is fine but limited - but the forums, which provide a host of knowlege and an affable well-spoken community. Don't hate, Ars is one of the best resources available.
