It's a 50 meg download and at the end of it, you have almost everything MS office offers. You gotta wonder how much crap is inside of the MS office code when it's ten times bigger and does just about the same as Open Office.

I use OpenOffice.org all the time. What a great piece of software! The amazing thing is that it is available as a free download, contributed by the awesome open source community, with help from Sun Microsystems. OpenOffice.org has word processing, spreadsheet, slide presentation, HTML editor and a drawing tool (think Visio). You just won't believe what you get with this package. I strongly predict that no one will buy Microsoft Office five years from now. Why would you? Individuals, corporations, small businesses. This is a more stable package and the cost --- well, I guess I've mentioned that already. It's FREE!

Well, Microsoft's Office suite has a lot of neat stuff in it, but OpenOffice has a lot of neat stuff and it's FREE and it's available for multiple platforms. The only downside to OpenOffice is that it doesn't have grammar check (which isn't that important to me anyway).

OpenOffice for Windows is great, if I still was using Windows XP I whould have used OpenOffice. The Windows version deserve 5 stars! After I switched from Windows PC to Mac I stoped using OpenOffice since the Mac port's not good at all. It could have been a really super software if the NeoOffice/J team and the OpenOffice team could cooperate a litle... But the Mac port is still a good software if you don't want to buy the expencive Microsoft Office suite.

It is a great alternative to MS Office. It is also free, which is great. I have been using this for about 2 months and have had nothing but success. One thing I would like added is the grammar check, but it is free.
